Our Story

Hey there, I’m April — Owner and Lead Designer of C.C. Monroe Event Design. I’m a fire wife, a mom to four incredible kids, and a woman who somehow manages to hold both chaos and creativity in the same hand.

C.C. Monroe was born from motherhood. The name itself is inspired by three of my children,  Caleb, Caysen, and Kensley Monroe. My youngest, Kamille, arrived after the business was already underway, but she quickly became a driving force behind the passion and purpose I put into my work. Each of my kids carries a piece of the joy, curiosity, and inspiration that I infuse into my work every single day.

C.C. Monroe isn’t just a business. It’s a piece of my family, my story, and the legacy I’m building for my kids. And it’s with that same heart that I approach every event: with care, creativity, and a commitment to creating experiences that feel deeply personal and beautifully unforgettable.

My philosophy is simple: events should feel intentional, personal, and deeply connected to the people at the center of them. I’m not here to copy trends or create something generic. I’m here to listen to your story, understand who you are, and design an experience that feels warm, elevated, and unmistakably you.

I was first introduced to the event world during my time at UCLA, where I had the incredible opportunity to co-produce one of Southern California’s premiere music festivals, the UCLA Jazz & Reggae Festival. What started as a student project quickly turned into a defining moment for me.

I loved watching the wild ideas in my head turn into something real,  something people could walk into, experience, and feel. Seeing a crowd gather, hearing the energy shift, watching people connect and celebrate… it was intoxicating. There’s nothing quite like knowing you helped bring hundreds of people together for a shared moment of joy, culture, and community.

That experience planted a seed. It showed me the power of thoughtful planning, creativity, and intention, and how events can bring people together in ways that feel meaningful and unforgettable. It was the first time I realized, “This is what I’m meant to do.”

I enjoy working with such a diverse range of clients because each type of celebration brings out a different part of my creativity and purpose. Engaged couples allow me to step into one of the most meaningful chapters of their lives and help them translate their love story into a day that feels personal, intentional, and unforgettable. Parents planning their kids’ celebrations speak to my heart as a mom,  I know the desire to create magical moments while still being present, and I love helping families build memories their children will carry forever. And corporations looking to elevate their brand give me the opportunity to blend design with strategy, crafting experiences that not only look beautiful but also communicate who they are in a fresh, compelling way.

No matter the client, my goal is the same: to listen deeply, design thoughtfully, and create an experience that feels authentic to them. Each event is a chance to honor a story, a milestone, or a mission , and being trusted with that is the reason I love what I do.

  • Dream Event Location

Italy’s Amalfi Coast - the cliffs, the colors, the sea, the romance. Designing an event there would be an absolute dream come true.

  • Album on Repeat

    Olivia Dean

  • Coffee Order

December has my whole heart because it means Starbucks brings back the Caramel Brulée Latte, which I’ve lovingly renamed “The Goodness.” It’s my seasonal joy in a cup. On busy work weeks or event days, though, I keep it simple and strong with a Nitro Vanilla Cold Brew (with an extra pump of vanilla, of course).

  • Best Compliment From a Client

    “We are family.”

  • In My Off Time

When I’m not working, I’m fully in mommy mode — school drop-offs, sports, homework, cuddles, all of it. But on those rare, quiet moments when I do get time to myself, I love pouring back into my own well-being. Sometimes that looks like a long walk, a much-needed massage, or losing myself in an audiobook. It’s my way of grounding, reflecting, and recharging so I can show up fully for my family and for my clients.

  • Favorite LA Restaurants

I’m a total foodie, so choosing just one is impossible — but I do have a top three I never get tired of. In no particular order: Esperanza, Lucia, and Japonica. Each one has its own vibe, and honestly, they all make my heart (and stomach) very happy.
